Generating a build disk image

When you generate a build disk image it is stored in a folder on the server.

To generate a build disk image

  1. From the left-hand pane, expand Picture of the Computers icon Computers, then expand Picture of the Build icon Build and choose Picture of the Build Disks icon Build Disks.

  2. From the right-hand pane, right-click a build disk and from the menu, choose Generate Build Disk Image.

  3. From the drop-down list select the build disk you wish to base the build disk image on.

  4. Select the format for the build disk image from the drop-down list. Ensure that you choose a format big enough to store your files (for example the Vista operating system requires the DVD format). If you wish to copy files to a USB flash drive, select File Collection.

  5. The Destination field displays the folder on the server to store the image or files. If you want to create a new folder on the server, or specify an existing folder, type the folder name in the box. To view the contents of the folder, click the Explore button.

  1. Click the OK button.

Notes

  • After you have created a build disk image on a server, in order to create a physical build disk (for example a USB flash drive or a CD) you need to copy the files or burn the image to your chosen media. To burn an image to a CD or DVD you will need to use suitable software.

  • You can also generate a build disk image from the Tasks menu by choosing Build Disk, Generate Build Disk Image.

  • For information about building a computer, refer to your Community Connect 4 Reference Manual.
